How does 1 calculate profit on stocks partially sold ?

Example – Say I made purchases of stocks of a Co. “X”, on 3 different occasions every time with a different denomination:
1. 100 shares for 5$
2. 80 shares for 5.20$,
3. 200 shares for 6$.
And then went ahead and sold 200 shares for 8$ (still retaining the 180 as part of my portfolio)

How do I calculate the profit ?
1. Is it as simple as saying 200 * 2(i.e $8-$6) = 400$.
OR
2. Do I need to take the average purchase price of all the stocks of the Co. I own and then calculate the profit
OR
3. Do I consider the FIFO(first in first out) rule and calculate the price of the stocks accordingly ?

I specify each allocation:

100*(8-5)=$300
80*(8-5.2)=$224
20*(8-6)=$40

Total $564

You can also choose which shares you sold to maximize loss or minimize gains on your taxes.
